WATER WEAPONS
SADDLEBAGS IN THE CHARRO STYLE
The WATER WEAPONS are an accessory that was hung on the saddle. In the back part it had some straps that were fastened to the waist, like the chaps, from top to bottom; this allowed the protection of the legs and the saddle.
They were made of monkey and coyote skins because this type of skin is waterproof, which protected the legs and saddle from water, even if it got quite wet, which combined with a sleeve offered complete protection for the rider.
Many trips were made in the countryside, especially in the rainy season, so it was used as a travel accessory, as well as the serape and the sleeve, although nowadays they are no longer used as in the past.
