CHARRERIA

MEXICO'S NATIONAL SPORT

Charreria, the undisputed emblem of Mexican identity, transcends the borders of mere tradition to become the national sport par excellence. Practiced in the 32 states of the Mexican Republic and in 17 states of the American Union, this equestrian discipline has conquered hearts and souls, amalgamating dexterity, respect for culture and passion for horses.

The Mexican Federation of Charreria, a fundamental pillar of this noble tradition, brings together more than 1,600 charro associations, giving home to more than 1,800 teams, composed of nearly 20,000 brave charros and 6,500 charro ladies. A social fabric that embraces the diversity of ages and genders, from four year olds to hardened octogenarians, all with a common denominator: the love for Charreria.

These fearless athletes compete in six distinct categories, each representing an age range and a culmination of skill and equestrian mastery. From the initial gallop to the most challenging tests, Charreria is a spectacle of skill, coordination and bravery.

In this section, we will delve into the heart of this exciting discipline through the greatest exponents of the national championships. We will immerse ourselves in their feats, celebrate their achievements and discover the enduring legacy of Charreria as more than a tradition, as an authentic national sport.
