GOLD DAMASCENE PLATE
The gold damascene plate on display at the Museum of Charreria is a true jewel of Toledan goldsmithing, a treasure that Spain gave to the National Association of Charros de Mexico, now the Mexican Federation of Charreria. Beyond its exquisite embroidery and ornamentation, what really distinguishes this piece is the legend it bears, an emblem of the close union between Spain and Mexico on horseback.
In the center of the plate, rests the national coat of arms of Mexico, flanked by the horseshoe and the spur, iconic symbols of our charro tradition. The logo of the Federación Mexicana de Charrería, formerly Federación Nacional de Charros, is also proudly represented, along with the Spanish charros association. However, the most significant element is the Spanish crown, which rises majestically over this composition.
This dish is not only an exceptional work of art, but also a tangible testimony of the deep friendship and recognition between nations with a deep-rooted equestrian tradition. Through this piece, we celebrate the appreciation of our cultural expression and the close relationship that exists between Spain and Mexico in the realm of charreria. The crowning by Spain adds an even deeper level of meaning, underlining the importance given to the Mexican Charreria Federation as an ambassador of this rich tradition in the international arena.
